description: Photographic documentation of Jerzy Bereś’s manifestation "Auction" (September 28-31, 1973), made in the PI gallery (Kraszewskiego Street 9, Kraków). The artist is girded with white cloth, and has the inscription "Bereś" painted on his chest. He is kneeling in front of a block of wood and raising a mallet to strike the axe and chop the stump. His face and torso are divided by a vertical line. The material document from the manifestation in the form of a painted loincloth and photographic documentation from the manifestation are currently in the MOCAK collection in Kraków.
