Kyoto Sanjou Miyukicho Art Complex 1928
manifestation as part of The 9th Nippon International Performance Art Festival (22 II – 8 III)
Description of the manifestation:
A large hall with a raised acoustic shell. Performances take place before the shell. The audience takes their seats on tiered platforms with cushions. In the center of the hall are two small tables: one holds a cut flower and newspapers, the other a kitchen board for chopping vegetables, a bottle of vodka, and vodka glasses.
The artist enters the hall naked, with a rope noose around his neck. He removes the noose and places it on the table next to the flower and newspapers. He goes to the second table, fills several glasses with vodka, and paints a letter on his body. He returns to the first table, looks through the newspaper, weaves it into knots in the rope, and paints an X on his back. He moves between the tables until the bottle is empty and the word CONTACT appears on his torso.
He then places the glasses of vodka on the kitchen board, approaches the audience, and offers them a drink. He returns to the center of the room, applies white and red paint to his penis, and imprints it on the kitchen board. He coils the rope with newspapers woven into its knots, places it on the table, and positions the imprinted board diagonally on top of it. In front of the table, he places the vodka bottle with the flower inserted into it.Finally, the author asks the audience to authenticate the resulting document with their own handwritten signatures on the kitchen board.
