Cafe of the Artists’ Club in Kraków

Manifestation description:

Café of the Artists’ Club. In the middle of the premises stands a small stump (about 50 cm high). An axe is embedded into the stump. In its center there is a hole carved out. The artist, dressed only in pants rolled up to his knees, approaches the stump. He is tied at his waist with a rope trailing behind him. In his hand he holds a several-centimeter-long peg. He takes the axe and hammers the peg into the stump. He applies green paint to his feet with a brush and walks on the taut rope around the trunk, leaving green footprints. The footprints form a spiral as the rope gets shorter and shorter while winding around the peg. Eventually, further movement becomes impossible. The rope is too short, the artist finds himself at the trunk. He now removes the peg from the trunk and frees it from the rope. He places the peg on the trunk and chops it in half with an axe lying next to it.
