Toast II

19 VIII 2012
Sokołowsko, II Festival of Ephemeral Art, 18-22 VIII 2012

Description of the manifestation:

The manifestation is a repetition of the action held in Belfast on October 26, 2009. There are two tables in the hall. On one stands a small stump; on the other are a tray with glasses, a bottle of Żubrówka vodka, an axe, a cup of paint with a brush, a bottle of water, and a cut flower.

The artist, wearing a blue headband, takes the axe and attempts to split the stump in half. Lacking the strength to do so, he is assisted by someone from the audience. At one table, he pours vodka into glasses; at the other, he paints the inside of the split stump with blue paint: on one half, the words TOAST II and the current date, and on the other, SOKOŁOWSKO and his signature.

He takes the tray and walks around the hall, offering drinks to those present. He keeps one glass for himself and proposes a toast. He then returns to the table and carefully reassembles the two halves of the stump so that the inscriptions are hidden inside. He ties the stump with a blue headband, places a vodka bottle next to it, and inserts the flower into the bottle.
